Appeals Court Declines To Rule on Trump-Carroll Defamation Lawsuit; New Yorkers Heckle Trump

(RepublicanDaily.org) – Former President Donald Trump has been met with a series of ongoing legal entanglements. On April 13, an appeals court in New York City declined to rule on whether the former president was acting in his official capacity when he allegedly defamed an advice columnist who accused him of raping her in the 1990s. Trump likewise faced heckling in New York as he arrived at a court in Manhattan to give his deposition in the ongoing documents scandal case.

E. Jean Carroll by calling her a “liar,” ABC News reported. E.Jean Carroll accused Trump of raping her in a Bergdorf Goodman high-end retailers dressing room in the 1990s.

Trump’s legal team questioned “for years” who was funding the Carroll lawsuit. It was eventually exposed that LinkedIn social media platform founder Reid Hoffman, now a “mega-donor” to Democrats, is “bankrolling” the lawsuit, The Daily Beast reported.

In similar legal entanglements, Trump faced New York Attorney General Letiticia James for questioning in Manhattan, in a deposition to proceed his trial over allegations of fraud, NBC News reported. James’ allegations claim that Trump and his company had committed widespread fraud, and seek $250 million. The lawsuit reportedly accused Trump of continuing to overstate the values of his assets.

Trump took to Truth Social media platform to hotly criticize the case, stating that it should have been brought before the Commercial Division and not a “Trump hating judge” and that it should not be “shopped” by “Peekaboo James,” a derogatory moniker referring to A.G. James.

When Trump arrived at the scene of his deposition, he was “heckled” by by-standing New Yorkers, Politico reported. Crowds gathered chanted “New York hates you,” as a black SUV brought Trump in for questioning.

In addition to allegations brought against him by Attorney General James and the civil lawsuit he faces due to Carroll’s civil lawsuit, Trump also faces accusations from Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg. Trump was indicted and arrested over these charges, and is set to appear for trial in December. The case brought by Bragg is reportedly a separate criminal case from the civil case brought against him by James, NBC reported.
